Woman dead, 3 others injured as vehicle falls into gorge in Poonch

Srinagar: A 40-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured on Sunday after their vehicle fell into a gorge in J&K’s Poonch district.

Reports said that at around 9:30, in the morning, a vehicle (TATA Sumo) under registration number JK12-9622, on its way from Gali Pindi towards Mandi, fell down in a deep gorge near Noor Pur Gali Pindi in Poonch, resulting into the on the spot death of one person and injuries to three other persons.

The deceased woman has been identified as Maniza Bi, wife of Jamal Din, a resident of Gali Pundi.

Soon after the incident, the injured persons were evacuated to District hospital Poonch and the body of the deceased woman was handed over to her family for the last rites.

In another incident, a truck driver was critically injured after his vehicle plunged into river Sindh in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district today.

The injured driver identified as Ashiq Ahmad was subsequently moved to Srinagar’s SKIMS hospital for further treatment.
