#JournalismIsNotACrime: The Kashmiriyat Editor detained again

Srinagar: The Kashmiriyat editor, Qazi Shibli has now been detained by the Cyber Crime Cell in Srinagar. Shibli’s family has said that after waiting for more than 8 hours outside the Cyber Cell, they were told by the police officials that they can go back home as Shibli has been detained.

His family members said that they were happy that after years, everyone in their family would be spending Eid together. But, the news of his detention has left everyone miserable.

Shibli got a call from the Cyber Police station at around 2:15 PM on Thursday asking him to present himself in the Police Station in Srinagar on Friday.

Shibli was earlier detained for nine months in a prison in Uttar Pradesh’s, Bareilly under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

The charges were later revoked on April 13 after the jails were decongested because of the coronavirus pandemic.

He was summoned by a local police station on July 27, 2019 after he reported and tweeted a leaked government order regarding additional troop build-up in the Valley.
