Chargesheet filed against 4 LeT militants, 3 associates in Handwara, says police

Handwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday filed chargesheet against four Lashkar-e-Taiba militants and three associates of militants in north Kashmir’s Handwara.

In a statement, the police said that it today submitted the Charge sheet in respect of case FIR No 104/2020 of Police Station Handwara.

The FIR pertains to the incident dated April 3, this year when JK police in Handwara along with 21 RR and 92 CRPF arrested four militants and 3 militant associates of LeT outfit.

The statement further in details says, after the conclusion of the investigation the Chargesheet has been filed before the Competent Court by Handwara Police U/s 13,18,20,23,38 UA(P) Act; 7/25  Indian Arms Act and substantive offences thereof subsequent to obtaining necessary Government sanction for prosecution under UA(P)Act.

The Chargesheet has been filed against 04 militants namely Parvaiz Ahmad Chopan, son of Abdul Rashid Chopan, a resident of Shartpora Langate, Mudasir Ahmad Pandith, son of Abdul Rehman Pandith, a resident of Zargar mohalla Langate, Mohd Shafi Shiekh, son of Mohd Ahsan Shiekh, a resident of Langate and Burhan Din Wani@ Burhan, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, a resident of Tulwari Langate.

The three militant associates LeT namely Azad Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Razaq Bhat, a resident of Shalpora Langate, Altaf Ahmad Baba, son of Salam Din Baba, a resident of Babagund Seelo Rafiabad and Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo, son of  Said-ud-din Chalkoo, a resident of Silikoot Uri for their role in hatching Criminal Conspiracy for the militant act and harbouring militants and giving support to the militant Organisation, the statement added.
