Man injured as army vehicle hits civilian bus in Ganderbal, locals protest

Ganderbal: Locals on Wednesday blocked the Srinagar-Leh highway in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a passenger bus was hit by an army vehicle at Hariganiwan, resulting in injuries to a passenger.

The injured civilian has been identified as Muhammad Maqbool Khan, son of Muhammad Khan of Hariganiwan Kangan, who sustained injuries after the bus bearing registration number JK16-5587, he was travelling in was hit by an army vehicle.

Soon after the incident, the injured passenger was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS Soura for further treatment.

Following the incident, witnesses said that locals hit the streets and staged a protest demonstration demanding justice to the victim. They also blocked the Srinagar-Leh road and sought immediate action in this regard.

Meanwhile, a police team has reached on the spot and is investigating the incident.
