Bangalore: In a bizarre turn of events, a 22-year-old woman spent three days in a well with a fractured hand and without food and water in a village near Devanahalli Bangalore in Karnataka state, after her social media friend allegedly tried to kill her by pushing her into a 60-foot-deep well.
Three days after the incident, it was the villagers who heard someone screaming from the well and raised an alarm. Soon, a team of Fire and Emergency rushed to the spot and the woman, a resident of a village near Malur in Karnataka’s Kolar district, was rescued.
In this regard, Jurisdictional Vijayapura police have detained the woman’s Instagram friend Adarsha alias Adi, 22, for attempting to murder the woman by pushing her into the dry well in Ranganathapura village, near Devanahall, Times of India reported.
The report added that the woman is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital for the injuries she sustained.
According to the report, the woman told police that she and Adi became friends on Instagram a month ago. Adi expressed his desire to meet her personally. She arrived in Devanahalli on Saturday by bus. Adi received her and took her to a farmhouse belonging to one of his villagers in A Ranganathapura.
The woman, according to the report, has got married three years ago to a private company employee and has a son.
“I reached Devanahalli around 5.30 pm and he picked me up on his scooter. He told me that he would show me his farmhouse and took me there. He started expressing his desire to marry me. I rejected his proposal, saying I’m already married and have a son. But he didn’t listen and started forcing me to marry him. He threatened to kill me if I rejected his proposal and pushed me into the well. He fled the spot, cursing me that I die there,” the report quoted the woman as having said.
Quoting police officials, the report said that the woman survived the fall as the well was filled with bushes. The incident came to light around 1: 30 pm on Tuesday when a farmer heard screams from the well. He informed police, who, along with fire and emergency services officials, rushed there with a crane.
