5 COVID deaths reported in 24 hours take JK’s fatality count to 1,445, cases at 92,225

Srinagar: A doctor was among five persons who died due to COVID in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours, thus taking the fatality count to 1,445.

Among those who succumbed to the virus include three from Kashmir valley and two from Jammu division, officials said.

Regarding the deaths from Valley, they said, two belonged to Baramulla and one to Srinagar district. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) headed by Dr Suhail Naik said that one doctor, Dr Rajat died of COVID.

“He was working as Post Graduate (PG) scholar in the Department of Radiology at Govt Medical College (GMC) Jammu.”

Dr Naik said: “Dr Rajat was a front line COVID warrior who contracted the virus while on duty and was admitted in Intensive Care Unit(ICU) of GMC Jammu as he could not maintain oxygen saturation due to bilateral pneumonia but finally lost the battle of life early morning today”.

He said that Dr Rajat was a true martyr as he without caring for consequences of contracting the COVID served the people.

The JK administration on Monday informed that 364 new positive cases of COVID cases- 147 from Jammu division and 217 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of cases to 92,225.

Moreover, 627 more COVID patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 229 from Jammu division and 398 from Kashmir.

According to the daily bulletin, out of 92225 positive cases, 7296 are Active Positive, 83485 have recovered and 1444 have died; 480 in Jammu division and 964 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 2194292 test results available, 2102067 samples have been tested as negative till October 26, 2020.

Till date, 642510 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 18198 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7296 in isolation and 46825 in home surveillance. Besides, 568747 persons have completed their surveillance period.
