12 civilians injured in grenade attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama

Pulwama: Twelve civilians were injured on Wednesday evening after suspected militants hurled a grenade on armed forces personnel in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources said that militants lobbed a grenade on joint team of Police and CRPF in Kakapora. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on road.

In this incident, twelve civilians received splinter injuries and were subsequently shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. All of them are said to be stable, officials added.

The injured civilians have been identified as Adil Ahmad of Samboora, Amir of Uttar Pradesh, Ghulam Mohiddin of Laribal, Raja Begum, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mushtaq Ahmad, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Habib-Ulla-Shiekh, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, Suhail Ahmad, Abrar Dar and Bashir Ahmad, all residents of Kakapora Pulwama.

Soon after the attack whole area was cordoned off and searches are going on.

Talking to Free Press Kashmir, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pampore, said that eight civilians have received splinter injuries and are being treated at SDH Pampore.
