Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested a man and registered a case against him in connection with the kidnapping and sexually assaulting a young woman in Budgam district.
In a statement, police said that it received a complaint stating that a girl (name withheld) has been kidnapped and sexually assaulted by one person namely Arzaan Ahmed Khan of Gulberg Colony, Hyderpora Budgam.
Accordingly, Case FIR No 465/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation was initiated.
“A special team headed by SHO Budgam acting swiftly and arrested the accused and recovered the kidnapping girl within 24 hours after the complaint was received. He has been shifted to PS Budgam where he remains in custody,” the statement said.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her legal heirs, it said, adding that further investigation into the matter is in progress.
