Srinagar: On International Mother Language Day, The Jammu and Kashmir Bank released an advertisement poster on social media promoting diversity by displaying various Indian languages.

However, the graphic missed an important language, that is, Kashmiri.

K-Twitter reacted immediately expressing their disappointment.

Gowhar Geelani, a Kashmir based author, labelled this as cultural aggression.

While a resident of Srinagar, Mir Faheem, called it a ‘World Shame Day for J&K Bank’ .

Kashmiri journalist Rifat Abdullah expressed concern over this development saying that J&K Bank does not respect Kashmiri language.

Other Twitter users too used the platform to suggest how the move was disrespectful to their identity.

Few hours later J&K Bank posted a new graphic with Kashmiri language included.

Recently, J&K Bank for the first time has advertised jobs for outsiders.

These jobs, before the Abrogation of Article 370 were only reserved for the state subject of J&K state but in December 2019, 33 posts were advertised for people from outside of J&K and Ladakh.
