Seven Hizb militant associates arrested in Shopian, says Police

‘Two hand grenades and ammunition recovered’

Srinagar: Seven militant associates of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were arrested in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Saturday.

Official sources said that during a Naka search seven militant associates were arrested with arms and ammunition.

A case Fir no 40/2021 U/S 7/25 Arms Act 18,20,13,33,38 ULAP act has been registered against the arrested persons in police station Shopian.

They have been identified as Samiullah chopan, son of Farooq Ahmad chopan, a resident of Meemender, Hilal Ahmad wani, son of Mohd Amin Wani, a resident of Dachipora, Ramaiz Ahmad Wani, son of Muzaffar Ahmad Wani, a resident of Dachipora, Rouf Ahmad wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani, a resident of Dachipora, Zahid Ahmad wani, son of Bashir Ahmad wani, a resident of Dachipora, Faizan Ahmad Khan, son of Mohd Yousuf Khan, a resident of Vehil and Shahid Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Iqbal Rather, a resident of Vehil.

The officer further said that two hand grenades and 105 live ammunitions were recovered from their possession.
