Four LeT militants killed, armed forces personnel injured in military operation in Shopian: Police

Shopian: Four Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed and an armed forces personnel injured in a military operation against militants in Manihal area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.

Official sources said that four militants were killed while one army personnel received a bullet wound on foot during the operation. The slain militants were affiliated with LeT outfit, police said.

One AK-47 rifle and two pistols were recovered from the slain militants, officials said.

Earlier an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them triggering the operation.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, Internet services have been snapped in Shopian district.
