Srinagar: A 60-year-old man was injured after hit on the head by a flying tin sheet amid gusty winds which also damaged rooftops of four houses and a school in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources that due to gusty winds, a tin sheet got uprooted and hit on the head of Mumtaz Hussein (60) son of Dulla Khan of Gultha area of the Mendhar.
The injured was shifted to Government Sub District Hospital Mendhar. “His condition is stable,” Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Block Medical Officer Mendhar, told Global News Service.
Meanwhile, reports said that houses belonging to Nisar Ahmed and Abdul Ghani were also damaged along with that of two other persons in Harni area of the district.
Sarpanch of Harni Waseem Ahmed Khan told the news agency that four houses were damaged besides the rooftop of one school building.
“We are collecting more details,” the officer said, adding that there has been no loss of life or injury reported in the incident.
Tehsildar Mendhar Dr Vikram Kumar also confirmed the damage to these structures due to gusty winds.
A similar incident was reported in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara area where the strong winds damaged a rooftop of the government school building.
An official told Kashmir News Observer that the rooftop of government middle school (GMS) in Nowshera Bijbehara collapsed after heavy rainfall and strong winds this morning.
He said the students of the said school had to face problems due to inclement weather.
