Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a ‘hit and run’ case in central Kashmir’s Budgam district by arresting the driver involved in the act.
In a statement, the spokesperson said that on 30, 5, 2021, Police Post Pakherpora received information that a motorcycle bearing registration no JK04D-3274 driven by Muzaffar Ahmad Lone (25) has been hit by an unknown vehicle near Futlipora Pakharpora and the driver along with the vehicle has fled away from the Spot. Accordingly, a case FIR number 56/2012 under section 279,337-IPC was registered in Police Station Charisharief, and investigation was taken up.
The injured person succumbed to his injuries while on way to hospital Srinagar, the statement said.
During the investigation, the spokesman said that the police team from PS Chaar-e-Sharief put forth all the efforts to identify and arrest the person involved in the commission of the crime. Various suspects were summoned and questioned and some analysis was also done which led to some clues. Finally, after a lot of hard work, police could identify and arrest the accused from Shopian area.
The arrested driver has been identified as Jehangir Ahmad Dar, son-in-law of Ali Mohd Hajam, a resident of Gulshanabad Chaar-e-sharief and the vehicle Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK03F-5883 involved in the commission of offence has also been seized.
The hit and run case was solved within 72 hours and the accused booked under sections 279, 304(II)-IPC, the statement said, adding that this is not an ordinary accident case and shall be dealt with under appropriate provisions of law to ensure justice.
