Pulwama’s Mitrigam-Rahmoo road in shambles, locals demand macadamization

Pulwama: A vital road from Mitrigam to Rahmoo Pulwama in south Kashmir is in dilapidated condition for several years now and authorities are watching the sufferings of the people as mute spectators, locals said on Saturday.

They said that the road from Pulwama to Mitrigam has already been macadamized but the condition from Mitrigam to Rahmoo is worst. According to locals, authorities have left the road in shambles and people are waiting for macadamization to take place.

“Dust has engulfed the households living on the roadside on these hot days and mud is what welcomes us when the weather is wet,” said a resident, Sajjad Ahmed. He said that the road is of vital importance as it connects Pulwama road to many villages; however, authorities have neglected it.

He added that the road connects around half a dozen villages to National Highway-44 but authorities are not giving any importance to this road.

Locals say that they have been informing the higher authorities to pay heed to the road but all such prayers have fallen to the ground. The locals once again requested higher-ups to take up the development of the road at the earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.

Last week, DC Pulwama said that the road is in the plan. “Due to weather conditions, it was not done. Now the weather is good and will be done in the next 15 to 20 days,” he had said.
