Budgam: Family stages protest over delay in postmortem report of woman found dead in May

Budgam: The family and relatives of a 30-year-old woman, who was found hanging from a walnut tree in the Nowgam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on May 10, staged a protest on Friday, alleging hospital authorities of delaying reports of postmortem.

The family members of the deceased woman held a protest outside sub-district hospital Charar-i-Sharief while demanding justice.

“My sister was murdered, as she was hanged to death by her in-laws,” said a brother of the deceased lady.

As per her family, she was found hanging outside her in-law’s residence at Nowgam Darwan during the intervening night of May 09 and 10.

“If she had committed suicide, why would doctors delay the post-mortem report. They conducted post-mortem on May 10, but they didn’t show us the report even it has been 55 days now,” said Shahrukh Malik, brother of the deceased woman.

The family members alleged that doctors are delaying giving the FSL report by saying they have not received the clear report yet.

They alleged that they visited the hospital many times but every time they have been denied the reports for reasons best known to hospital authorities.

The family said that they have already approached the concerned police station to file an FIR and urged the administration to initiate a quick inquiry into it.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Budgam, Dr Tajamul said that the results which were pending due to some non-accuracy and same will now be given to the family today.
