New Delhi: In the latest research on Coronavirus, it has been suggested that based on historical trends the COVID infections can start rising by the second fortnight of August 1 with peak cases at least a month later.
Raising the alarm bells for policymakers and citizens, a research report has contended that India may witness the third COVID wave from August 2021. The report – COVID-19: The race to finishing line – prepared by SBI Research, claims that the covid third wave peak will arrive in the month of September 2021.
The research report says that India achieved its second wave peak on 7th May. “Going by the current data, India can experience cases around10,000 somewhere around the 2nd week of July. However, the cases can start rising by the second fortnight of August,” the report said.
As per the research report, the global data shows that on average third wave peak cases are around 1.7 times the peak cases at the time of the second wave.
However, based on historical trends the cases can start rising by the second fortnight of August 21 with peak cases at least a month later.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi said that experience shows no nation can solve challenges like COVID in isolation.
“There is no parallel to such a pandemic in a hundred years. Experience shows that no nation, however powerful that nation is, can solve a challenge like this in isolation,” he said while speaking at CoWin conclave.
Stating that Indian civilisation considers the whole world as one family, he said, “This pandemic has made many people realise the fundamental truth of this philosophy. That is why, our technology platform for Covid vaccination –– the platform we call CoWin –– is being prepared to be made open source.
Reopening places of worship across faith is one of the main highlights of several relaxations announced to the curbs that were in place in Karnataka to mitigate the spread of the COVID since the beginning of the second wave.
“Religious places are allowed to open only for darshan. No Sevas (rituals that involve devotees) will be allowed,” Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced as he spelled out revised guidelines to be in effect from Monday (July 5). Places of worship in the state have remained closed to pilgrims since the last week of April this year.
Meanwhile, India recorded 39,796 COVID cases and 723 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Health Ministry of India.
