New Delhi: India reported 32,937 COVID cases and 417 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry of India said on Monday.

The country’s active caseload currently is 3,81,947, the lowest in 145 days. The active cases constitute 1.18% of total cases, lowest since March 2020.

Across the country, 3,14,11,924 in total have recovered so far, with 35,909 patients recovering during last 24 hours.

The recovery rate now stands at 97.48%, the highest since March 2020, according to the health ministry.

So far, 54.58 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country, with 1743114 doses being administered during the last 24 hours, the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, with a steady decline in infections, Mumbai now has zero containment zones. The last two slum areas, which were under containment in the K-East ward covering areas like Andheri East, Marol, Sakinaka, were removed from the tag on Friday.

Containment zones are areas that have high population density and are sealed to prevent the further spread of the infection.

With a sharp slide in daily cases, the numbers of containment zones and sealed floors and buildings have also decreased in the city.

On April 17, when the city was going through the second wave of the pandemic, there were 100 containment zones and 1,188 sealed buildings in Mumbai.
