NIA summons 40 teachers in the aftermath of target killings

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned 40 teachers on Sunday in connection with target killings happening in Kashmir over the last few weeks, Indo Asian News Service (IANS) reported.

After NIA formally took over the investigation from the local police, the 40 teachers were summoned by the NIA on Sunday at its Church Lane office in Srinagar. The teachers are posted at various schools in Srinagar city.

As per the report, top officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) are camping in Srinagar under the directions of the Indian Home Minister Amit Shah.

The J&K Police have already detained over 400 people in connection with the FIRs lodged in different police stations pertaining to the civilian killings in the Valley, the report said.

Quoting their “top sources”, IANS also reported that the detained people have known links with the Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and others with known militant links in the past.
