Kupwara: KASHMER, a Kashmiri American Society for Medical Education and Research, in collaboration with HELP Foundation has inaugurated Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district by providing the ambulance to operate in the district for free.
The service was inaugurated by Jowhar Ali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue representing District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Imam U Din (He could not attend in person as a result of an unavoidable assignment in Srinagar), DDC Kralpora Advocate Masarat Farooq, and BMO Kralpora Dr Mir Mohammad Shafi, and various dignitaries were also present on the occasion, KASHMER said in a statement.
With this addition, KASHMER EMS is now provided in the districts of Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Kupwara districts.
The ultimate goal is to extend services to all the districts in Kashmir valley and beyond and hence supplement the services already provided by the local administration, it said.
KASHMER launched the first-ever fully equipped and adequately staffed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Kashmir in 2019.
Service, which was first started in Srinagar, has been extended to other districts.
Start of Emergency Medical Services in Kupwara will bring emergency services to the doorstep of residents of the district.
This service is available 24/7 x 365. All the ambulances are well equipped to handle any medical or surgical emergency.
Ambulances are equipped with 5 Channel patient care monitors, ECG machines, Lifesaving cardiac defibrillators, oxygen supply, and another emergency ancillary equipment.
This service is run by a well-trained team of professionals which includes emergency critical care certified triage physicians, emergency medical technicians (EMT), and pilots.
This service provides pre-hospital care functioning as “emergency ICU” while patients are being transferred to the nearest and qualified medical centers for definitive medical care.
