Two militant associates arrested in south Kashmir, says police

Awantipora: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two militant associates of Hizbul Mujahiddin in Awantipora area of south Kashmir and recovered incriminating materials including ammunition from their possession.

In a statement, the police said that Awantipora Police along with 42RR and 130Bn CRPF arrested two militant associates linked with Hizbul Mujahiddin.

“They have been identified as Muzamil Ayoub Bhat son of Mohd Ayoub Bhat resident of Shahabad Kharpora Bala Lalgam Awantipora and Suhail Manzoor Mohand son of Manzoor Ahmad Mohand resident of Shahabad Kharpora Bala Lalgam Awantipora,” the statement said.

Incriminating materials, ammunition including 383 rounds of AK-47 were recovered from their possession, police said.

“It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested militant associates were in touch with HM commanders and were involved in the transportation of arms and ammunition,” the statement said, adding “Besides, providing shelter and other logistic support to strengthen militant networks”.

A case vide FIR no 194/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated, the statement concluded.
