195 civilians, 348 armed forces personnel killed in last 5 years in JK: GoI

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) India on Tuesday informed the Parliament that 195 civilians and 348 armed forces personnel in Jammu and Kashmir in the last five years in militancy-related incidents.

The Minister of State (MoS) India in the Ministry of Home Affairs Nityanand Rai was replying to the queries raised in the parliament winter session which commenced on Monday.

The queries raised in the house include the details of recent incidents of civilian killings and armed forces in Kashmir and the number of such incidents besides the fatalities.

In response to the questions, the MoS Home Affairs stated that a total of 348 armed forces personnel including JK police personnel were killed and 796 injured besides a total of 195 civilians were killed and 534 were injured from 2017 to 2021 in militant related incidents in Jammu and Kashmir.

About the civilians killed in these five years, Rai said that a total of 195 were killed which include 40 in 2017 followed by 39, 39, 37, and 40 in the subsequent years.

Regarding the injuries to civilians, the minister informed that a total of 534 were injured from  2017 to 2021 which include 99, 63, 188, 112, and 72 in these years.
