Haridwar: Days after a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and other Hindutva members for making hate speeches and genocide calls against Muslims in Haridwar, Sadhvi Annapurna, and Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, along with other right-wing members have filed a case against Muslims.

The Hindu right-wing members alleged that Muslim clerics have been “conspiring against Hindus and should be punished”, but the police said that no FIR was filed.

In a video that is now viral on social media, Annapurna is seen telling a police officer that a message must be sent to the people that the police are not biased. “You are a constitutional officer and you will deliver justice equally,” she added.

Following Annapurna’s comments, Narsinghanand said, “Why are you asking him to be neutral…he’s on our side,” evoking laughter from those present, including the police officer.

Earlier, an FIR was lodged against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and other Hindu right-wing members for inciting violence against the minorities.

The case was registered under IPC Section section 153A — promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language — and the matter is under investigation.

Tyagi, who changed his name from Waseem Rizvi after converting to Hinduism earlier this month, and other speakers at last week’s event have been accused of making extremely provocative speeches and some video clips of it are doing the rounds on social media.

Last week, Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also demanded the strictest action against those who ‘incite violence’ and said that such acts violate the Constitution of India and the law.

Later, a police complaint was also filed by the congress politician against the hate speeches with Jwalapur police station in Haridwar.

Hitting out at the remarks made at the Haridwar conclave, Priyanka wrote on her Twitter handle, “Strictest action should be taken against those who incite hatred and violence of this kind.”

“It is despicable that they should get away with making an open call to murder our respected ex-PM and unleash violence against people of different communities,” she added.

Trinamool Congress national spokesperson Saket Gokhale had also demanded action against the organisers and the speakers of the ‘Dharma Sansad’ where hate speeches were made against Muslims.

During the three-day event, the Hindu right-wing members including Sadhvi Annapurna Maa, Dharamdas Maharaj, Anand Swaroop Maharaj, Swami Sagar Sindhuraj, Swami Prabodanand Giri, Swami Premanand Maharaj, BJP member, Ashwini Upadhyay, and the party’s Mahila Morcha member, Udita Tyagi, called for a Hindu Raj and violence against Muslims.
