Mobile internet services suspended across Kashmir

Srinagar: Mobile internet services have been suspended across Kashmir in view of the January 26 event.

Mobile internet of all cellular companies was suspended on Wednesday in all districts of the Valley. However, the broadband services were not affected.

Earlier on Tuesday, Police had said that there will be no restriction on the movement of people in Kashmir Valley on January 26.

“There will be no restriction on movements tomorrow. General public are requested to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour”,” IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said.

Pertinently, armed forces have been deployed in strength at various locations. Commuters and vehicles entering Srinagar city are being frisked at various spots by the forces personnel.

Lieutenant Governor JK Manoj Sinha is scheduled to take the salute at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, the main venue of the event on January 26 in JK. While in Srinagar, Advisor to Lt Governor R R Bhatnagar will preside over the event and is scheduled to take the salute at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium.

A tight deployment of armed forces was being witnessed across JK for a week. In Jammu city and in its peripheral areas, electronic gadgets are being used by the armed forces to monitor the movement of people, officials had said on Tuesday.
