COVID: JK reports 540 cases, 2 deaths in last 24 hours

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir, in the last 24 hours, reported 540 infections and two persons succumbed to the virus during the time, officials said on Friday.

They said 312 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu and 228 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall infection tally to 4,49,873. On January 7,542 persons had tested positive for the pathogen in JK.

Regarding the fatalities, the officials said that both of them were reported from Kashmir Valley. So far, 4741 persons have succumbed to the virus—2320 in Jammu and 2421 in Kashmir.

Giving district-wise details of the cases, they said, Srinagar reported 89, Baramulla 29, Budgam 32, Pulwama 12, Kupwara 26, Anantnag 7, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 15, Kulgam 6, Shopian 6, Jammu 131, Udhampur 22, Rajouri 9, Doda 61, Kathua 27, Samba 7, Kishtwar 1, Poonch 6, Ramban 36 and Reasi 12.

A number of these cases were confirmed at GMC Srinagar and Anantnag’s diagnostic laboratory.

Besides, they said, 1628 COVID patients recovered during the time— 682 from Jammu and 944 from Kashmir. So far, 4,37,708 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 7424—2918 in Jammu and 4506 in Kashmir.

They said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far, 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in JK, the officials said. They also informed that 52,605 doses of COVID vaccine were administered during the time in JK.
