Cop injured after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar, says police

Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel was injured after being shot by unidentified gunmen in Dhobi Mohalla area of Batamaloo Srinaagr on Monday evening.

Police officials said that a Jammu and Kashmir Police Inspector identified as Sheikh Firdous, son of Sheikh Abdullah of Dhobi Mohalla was shot by unidentified gunmen outside his home.

In the incident, the cop sustained injuries and was subsequently rushed to SMHS hospital for treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Balwal told Kashmir News Observer that he was shot outside Masjid by militants and has suffered bullet injury in the neck.

He is stable and undergoing treatment, the SSP said.
