Ramban: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday reiterated her call to the BJP government for dialogue with Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, saying that peace would be elusive as long as Kashmir conflict remains unresolved.

She called upon people to vote for the constituents of the People’s Alliance for Gukpar Declaration (PAGD) an alliance of several parties, including the National Conference, PDP and Communist Party of India (Marxist) – in the next assembly elections to defeat the BJP’s attempt to gain power and seal its wrong decision to abrogate Article 370.

Kashmir has been awaiting a solution for the last 70 years there will be no peace in the region until the Kashmir issue is resolved, and for that, dialogue with Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir is imperative, the former chief minister said.

Mehbooba said that Bharatiya Janata Party is badly damaging the integrity of Delimitation Commission which otherwise is an institution of repute.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a party convention in Ramban district, she said that Delimitation Commission is an institution of repute and respect but BJP has badly damaged its image that too for personal political gains.

Mehbooba said that PDP has increased its youth connect programmes as youth in Jammu and Kashmir are the worst sufferers due to unemployment and other factors.

Replying to a question over The Kashmir Files movie, she said that it would have been better if BJP would have paid some concern towards upliftment and betterment of Kashmiri Pandits.

“BJP should have done things for the betterment of KPs rather than promoting this movie,” she added.

The former chief minister accused that the BJP is spreading hatred in the society and dividing people in the name of religion.
