Civilian injured after being shot by militants in south Kashmir, says police

Shopian: A civilian was injured as militants fired upon him in Chidren, Keegam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Wednesday evening.

Police officials said that the militants fired upon a civilian in Chidren area, leaving him seriously wounded.

They added that the civilian identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of Children, was shifted to hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off, and searches launched.
