Anantnag: A military operation against militants has started in Hangalgund Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
In a Tweet, JK police wrote, “Encounter has started at Hangalgund, Kokernag area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”
Officials said that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Hangalgund after receiving input about the presence of militants in the area.
They also confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and armed forces personnel.
