A municipal employee in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura was sacked Sunday after a viral video showed discarded pictures of Narendra Modi and Adityanath in his garbage cart.

“I have nothing to do with this. It was in the trash, so, I put them in my cart,” he can be heard saying when cornered by a group of men about the photos.

In a video, the employee is stopped by a local resident wheeling a garbage cart out of which a framed picture of Adityanath could be seen.

The local man later urged the employee to take the photo out of the cart following which the employee removed the photo which was covered in dirt.

The people with local residents retrieved another photo which appeared to be that of PM Modi. In the video, the employee is heard explaining that he collected the photos from a garbage dump.

Hours after, Satyendra Kumar Tiwari, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Nagar Nigam Mathura-Vrindavan, issued a video statement saying the municipal employee had been fired from the municipal corporation because of negligence.

The incident generated mixed reactions on social media with some asserting that the employee was not at fault and urging the municipal corporation to reinstate him.
