Srinagar: Terming the tall promises of the BJP as a hoax and big joke with the people, especially the poor, marginalised and the youth, senior National Conference politicians Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Former Minister Ram Paul, on Tuesday questioned the two Crore Jobs promised during the 2014 elections, saying there has been very little on the ground.

“It is not only the jobs; the BJP had shown daydreams about doubling the income of farmers and providing housing to all by 2022 but these turned out as Jumlas and nothing beyond that”, said Senior leaders while addressing a public meeting at Chinore in Jammu North Assembly Constituency.

They said that India has been aghast to see during the past eight years that in the name of ‘Ache Din’, the BJP has always endeavored to mislead the people, as the scenario is quite different.

Farmers are suffering instead of getting double the income to their produce, unemployment is growing like never before, the backbone of the common people is broken due to inflation and skyrocketing rise in the prices of essential commodities.

If anything has happened, it to levy taxes even on the essentials like rice and curd, he said while slamming the BJP for befooling the poor housewives by creating hype over free LPG connections to those of them belonging to below poverty line, notwithstanding the fact they can’t afford to fill the cylinders which have crossed almost Rs 1100 per cylinder.

National Conference politicians said the housing for all has turned out as a crude joke of the century with the coverage of the scheme in rural areas, not to speak about urban habitations, being so meager that even the BJP is feeling embarrassed to make a mention of it.

They said Ache Din might have come for the BJP cadre but the people at large find themselves pushed to the wall on all the fronts. They said the people are so disillusioned with the government that they have stopped believing anything the BJP says. Due to fake and false promises besides tall claims, the saffron party has become subject of public ridicule, they added.

The senior National Conference politicians lamented over the BJP failing in showing the least sensitivity towards people’s pain due to misgovernance, under-development, and joblessness. They said the voice of the people is being choked as the GoI is quite touchy about pointing towards the problems being suffered by the people. To divert the public attention from the failures on all fronts, the BJP is trying to divide the people into communal lines. The atmosphere across the country has been vitiated with the patriotic Indians, due to the attempt of the BJP to divide the common people on communal lines, they added.

Ajay Kumar Sadhotra and Rattan lal Gupta and others, in Public Meeting at Chinore in Jammu North Assembly Constituency National Conference leaders exhorted the cadre to close their ranks and expand the mass outreach programme for meeting the challenges facing Jammu and Kashmir.

They said the National Conference has a history of public service and this philosophy will continue to guide the workers and functionaries in getting Jammu and Kashmir out of the mess created by the BJP, they added.

Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Raghuvir Singh District President, Subash Chander Bhagat Block President, Ghar Singh Corporator, Haji Bagh Ali, Laxmi Dutta, Vijay Lochan, AG Teli, Ch Razaq, Ch Abdul Aziz (Kaki), Randhir Singh, Baru Ram, Capt Joginder Bhagat, Sham Singh, Balbir Bhagat, Ch Mohd Shabir.
