Cop injured in military operation in Srinagar succumbs, says police

Srinagar: A personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who was injured during a military operation against militants in Nowhatta area of Srinagar yesterday, has succumbed to his injuries, police said on Monday.

Police officials said that the policeman identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad of Batote Ramban was injured during a ‘chance’ military operation in Nowhatta area on Sunday evening. They said that the injured cop was shifted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment today.

Notably, a militant was also injured during the operation, while the vehicle used by the militants was also seized, police added.

Police also said that one AK-74 rifle and two grenades were also recovered during the search at the operation site.
