Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Itihaad Party has expressed concerns, grief and anguish over the casual approach of DDU & RML hospital authorities while giving treatment to ailing Senior Hurriyat leader Altaf Fantosh who is suffering from pneumonia and chronic Kidney problem.

The party spokesman Firdous Baba in a statement said that Altaf Fantosh who has been sharing his cell with Er Rashid in Tihar Jail was sent back thrice in 24 hours by the DDU & RML Hospital authorities despite the fact that his condition was critical.

“It was painful that he was sent back to jail at 12 pm in the midnight by the RML Hospital authorities and then again sent to DDU Hospital by jail authorities. However the DDU Hospital authorities discharged him within hours ignoring the fact that jailed leader was surviving on oxygen support and was not able to even stand up without a support,” he said.

He added that there was a complete lack of coordination between DDU Hospital and RML Hospital authorities.

The spokesman said that while all the Kashmiri inmates lodged in Jail No 4 have appreciated the efforts and concerns of Jail administration while trying to ensure treatment of Altaf Fantosh but unfortunately the DDU and RML Hospital authorities ignored concerns of everyone.

He appealed Government to look into the matter and ensure immediate, proper and adequate treatment to Altaf Fantosh, the statement ends.
