Three arrested in sextortion case, more arrests expected

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three person accused involved in Sextortion.

In a statement, the police said thart on 27th September, one Nazir Ahmad Rather, son of Late Ghulam Nabi Rather, a resident of Dalwan Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam lodged a written complaint in Police Station Shergarhi to the effect that some days back, he received a call from one Saba (lady) and insisted him to meet for some work.

The statement further stated that accordingly, he met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar. The said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room. In the meantime three other men (associates of the woman) forcibly entered the room and started making video.

Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey into a well planned conspiracy of sextortion.

In this regard a case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation was set into motion, he said.

Three three accused namely, Shaista Bashir @ Saba, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Dar, wife of Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Galwan pora, at present Narkara Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Dar, son of  Khazer Muhammad Dar, a resident of Pethpohru Handwara and Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie, son of Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Galwan pora Hyderpora at present Narkara Budgam have been arrested in the instant case.

There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are also expected in the instant case and investigation is going on, reads the statement.
