Srinagar: A day after Home Minister of India Amit shah questioned the NC and PDP about developments it did in Jammu and Kashmir over the past many decades, the Farooq Abdullah-led NC has issued a ‘list of developments’ made in their tenure.
“Yesterday HM Amit Shah Ji asked me to account for the development that took place during the years JKNC has been in power. He was trying to suggest that nothing had been achieved and that NC had wasted away its time in office with nothing to show. I don’t wish to get sidetracked by some of the other things that were said about guns & stones. The sacrifices of my colleagues over the last 35 years where scores of NC leaders and workers have been killed or injured by these very guns Amit Shah ji accused us of distributing is the only answer this accusation needs,” Farooq Abdullah said.
Providing the list of achievements of various NC governments from 1947 to 2014, the NC chief said the list is by no means complete but is a snapshot of some of the work done.
“Ultimately people will be the judge of what has & hasn’t been achieved. Perhaps now Amit Shah ji can share with the people of J&K what has been achieved in the last 3 1/2 years of central rule in J&K,” he said.
The statement highlights the developments from 1948-53, 1977-83, 1986-1989 during Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah’s tenure.
It also highlights the developments made during Omar Abdullah and Frooq Abdullah tenure from 1996-2002 and 2008-2014
A few of the developments include the establishment of mini secretariats across districts, the empowerment of Panchayats in JK, 1.75 jobs provided to youth which included teachers, Police personnel, Aganwadi, 3000 entrepreneurship units established, skill upgradation training
provided to 40000 youth, 20348 ReTs regularized, 10,000doctors,specialists and paramedics appointed in health department, Mughal Road completed, boring of Zojila Tunnel started, two Central Universities and two University Campuses established, 200-bedded OPD Additional Block at Lal Ded Hospital, Srinagar,50-bedded Additional Emergency Block in GMC Jammu, Oncology Block inGMC Srinagar, Psychiatric Centre at GMC Jammu, Operation Theatre Blockat Bones and Joints Hospital Srinagar, and intake of MBBS seats was increased from 100 to 150 in Government Medical College, Srinagar and Jammu and from 50 to 100 in SKIMS.
