Rory Peck Trust on Thursday announced the name of finalists who made it to the 2022 awards given by the organization for the ‘powerful and intimate footage’ provided by the journalists.

One of the four journalists who made it to the prestigious award in News Award Category is Bhat Burhan, a Kashmir-based freelance journalist.

The other journalists are Alexander (Sasha) Ermochenko and Pavel Klimov who provided the Ukraine-based footage, and Raul Gallego Abellan whose climate-based story was recognized for the award.

Rory Peck Trust is a United Kingdom-based organization that provides practical and financial support to freelance journalists and their families worldwide, assisting in times of crisis and helping them to work more safely and professionally.

“The Judges have made their decisions and we are thrilled to announce the 2022 Rory Peck Awards Finalists. Their work reports on the impact of conflict, oppression and climate change on local communities through powerful and intimate footage from Ukraine to the Arctic, Nigeria to India,” Rory Peck Trust said.

Apart from News Award, there are three more categories. All the finalists will be celebrated at the Awards ceremony on November 16th, with four overall winners from each category announced on the night.
