Attack on Imran Khan: Pakistan PM directs Interior Minister to prepare immediate report

Following an attack on Imran Khan on Thursday in Gujranwala Pakistan, the country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the attack and directed the Interior Minister of Pakistan to prepare an immediate report on the incident.

“I condemn the incident of firing on PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the strongest words. I have directed Interior Minister for an immediate report on the incident. I pray for the recovery and health of PTI chairman & other injured people,” Sharif said in a tweet.

“Federal government will extend all support necessary to Punjab govt for security & investigation. Violence should have no place in our country’s politics,” the Pakistan PM added.

Khan was injured after his rally came under a firing attack. Chaotic scenes broke out near PTI’s reception camp at Allahwala Chowk in Gujranwala after gunshots were fired. According to Geo News, he sustained bullet injuries on his leg.

The report quoting police earlier said the suspect who opened fire on Khan’s container was arrested.

Following the incident, Khan was shifted to the hospital along with other PTI leaders including Faisal Javed who sustained the injuries.
