A missile landed outside the rural Polish village of Przewodow, about four miles (6.4 kilometers) west from the Ukrainian border killing at least two as Polish President Andrzej confirms that the missile was “made of Russia”.
Ukrainian has also blamed Moscow for the attack that resulted in killing at least two people.
A statement from the Polish Foreign Ministry identified the missile as being made in Russia, but Polish President Andrzej Duda was more measured, saying it “most probably” was Russian but that officials still can’t confirm that or who fired it.
“We do not have any conclusive evidence at the moment as to who launched this missile,” the report quoted Poland’s President Andrzej Duda as saying by international media.
“It was most likely a Russian-made missile, but this is all still under investigation at the moment.”
Duda was further quoted saying: “We are acting with calm. This is a difficult situation.”
Meanwhile, US president Joe Biden has said that a missile that landed in Poland and killed two people is unlikely to have been fired from Russia.
“We are going to figure out exactly what happened,” Biden said as per USA Today
He spoke to reporters after an emergency meeting with other G-7 and NATO leaders on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. He added that “preliminary information” suggests it was “unlikely” that the missile — which landed along Poland’s border with Ukraine — was fired from Russia.
The U S government and its NATO allies have been proceeding with caution amid reports that a Russian missile crossed into alliance member Poland and struck a grain facility near the border of Ukraine on Tuesday, the report said.
