Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh arrested in Punjab, internet shut in state

Jalandhar: Punjab Police have detained Khalistan leader and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh near Jalandhar’s Nakodar area on Saturday, reports said.

Six associates of Singh were earlier detained in Jalandhar and they are currently being questioned at an undisclosed location, Money Control reported.

The report quoting sources said that there was a tense car chase involving Amritpal Singh’s team and the Punjab police. Heavy police deployment was seen in the Moga district of Punjab. Internet services were shut down in parts of Punjab following the incident.

The Punjab police issued an appeal to maintain law and order and called for peace in the state. They also urged people not to interfere with police operations. The police and paramilitary forces have sealed the village.
