The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for an attack on Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. The group made the announcement in a statement released on its Telegram channel on Friday, as reported by Press TV.
The Iraqi resistance reported that it conducted an operation against the Ovda air base, located south of the occupied Palestinian territories, on Monday.
“In continuation of our efforts to resist occupation and support our people in Gaza, and in response to the massacres committed by the occupying entity against Palestinian civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted the Zionist entity’s ‘Ovda’ Air Base in our occupied territories with drones on Monday, April 15, 2024,” the statement read.
The attack was said to be a response to Israel’s actions against Palestinian civilians. The group also stated its intention to carry out further operations against Israeli targets.
This coalition has conducted multiple similar attacks on Israeli targets since Israel launched a devastating offensive on Gaza in October. The offensive began on October 7 following a retaliatory operation by Gaza’s resistance groups against Israel.
Since the beginning of the offensive, the Israel has killed over 34,000 Palestinians, with a majority being women and children.
Iraq’s Islamic Resistance has been conducting numerous operations against targets across the occupied territories since the conflict began.
