Gaza Genocide: Many detained in Saudi Arabia for criticising Israel on social media

The crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has reportedly intensified arrests of citizens criticising Israel on social media in recent months, following Israel’s military actions in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Saudi Arabia, known for its strict limitations on free speech and political expression, frequently detains individuals, sometimes for comments made online years ago.

However, the recent arrests took place as users slammed Israel for genocide in Gaza. Over, 34,000 Palestinians have lost lives in Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023.

According to the report, one detainee was an executive involved in Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s economic initiatives, including Vision 2030.

Another detainee was a media personality who advocated boycotting American fast food chains in Saudi Arabia and criticized Israel for war crimes in Gaza.
