Srinagar: An FIR was registered against the driver of a police vehicle a day after after the vehicle fatally struck an elderly man in Srinagar’s Hawal area on Friday afternoon, said an official. The official stated that further police investigation is underway in addition to the initial FIR.
On May 31, an official told a Srinagar-based news agency Kashmir News Observer that an elderly man was hit by the vehicle when he was crossing the road at Hawal Chowk, following which he was taken to a nearby hospital.
He said that the man was, however, declared dead on arrival. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Salam, 65, of Hawal.
