‘Extremely undemocratic’: KPCC chief criticises absence of Muslims in newly formed GoI cabinet

Narendra Modi

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K Sudhakaran criticised the absence of Muslim representation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third government on Tuesday, calling it “extremely undemocratic.”

In a statement, the senior Congress leader said, “It is extremely undemocratic that the country’s Muslim population was entirely excluded when the third Modi government came to power, with not a single BJP MP from that community.”

Criticising Modi, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president emphasised that representation for all is fundamental in a democratic system.

Referring to Modi’s controversial remarks during the Lok Sabha poll campaign, Sudhakaran, the MP from Kannur, alleged that Modi came to power through hate speeches.

He added that there is now a strong opposition in the country and that the INDIA Front, led by the Congress, will unite people moving forward.
