Kathua: On Tuesday, an armed forces personnel and a militant were killed, while a civilian sustained injuries in a military operation after militants opened fire in Saida Sukhal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

The armed force personnel (CRPF) was attacked by another militant hiding in the village and later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, News18 reported.

The attack occurred near the International Border on Tuesday evening, injuring a civilian. During the ensuing search operation, one militant was killed, and efforts continue to locate and kill the other militant believed to have infiltrated from across the border, the report said.

Anand Jain, the Additional Director General of Police for the Jammu zone, confirmed that two militants, seemingly recent infiltrators, appeared in Saida Sukhal village around 8pm and asked a household for water, causing alarm. Upon receiving this information, a police team led by a sub-divisional police officer and a Station House officer promptly responded.

“One militant attempted to throw a grenade and was killed in the ensuing exchange of fire, while the second militant is reported to be hiding in the village,” added the ADGP.
