Srinagar: Shopian emerged as the coldest place in the Kashmir Valley, recording a frigid minus 4.6°C as temperatures dipped sharply across the region. Pahalgam followed closely at minus 4.4°C, with Larnoo and Anantnag at minus 3.9°C each. Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded a relatively milder minus 0.6°C.
In Jammu, Padder saw a freezing minus 5.8°C, making it the coldest in the region, while Bhaderwah recorded 1.6°C and Rajouri 3.7°C. Warmer pockets like Jammu city touched 10.1°C, offering some respite.
Ladakh experienced its characteristic chill, with Drass leading at a biting minus 11.2°C, Leh at minus 8.6°C, and Kargil at minus 6.8°C.
The widespread drop in temperatures signals the intensifying winter as residents prepare for the challenges ahead.
