Houses of two drug peddlers valued at ₹3 crore seized in Srinagar, says police

Srinagar: The property worth over ₹3 crore belonging to two drug peddlers was seized by police in Srinagar under Section 68 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

A three-storied residential house valued at ₹65 lakhs, belonging to Abdul Ahad Bhat of Banpora Batamaloo, was seized in connection with FIR No. 31/2024 registered at Police Station Shaheed Gunj. The accused, a notorious drug peddler, sold drugs among youth, and a significant quantity of narcotics was recovered, police said in a statement on Wednesday.

In another case, a three-storied residential house valued at ₹2.5 crores, located at Umer Lane, Azad Basti, and owned by Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, father of accused Jan Manzoor Bhat, was attached in connection with FIR No. 35/2024 at Police Station Chanapora. Jan Manzoor Bhat, a drug peddler, was found involved in selling narcotics to the youth.

Both properties, acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade, were attached under Sections 68(E) and 68(F) of the NDPS Act, pending confirmation from the competent authority and administrator SAFEMA/NDPSA.
