This year, 69 militants were killed in JK: Data

Srinagar: In 2024, joint armed forces in Jammu and Kashmir killed 69 militants, including 24 local militants, 27 foreign militants, and 18 infiltrators. These operations spanned the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir.

Among the 24 local militants killed, few were identified as Bilal Rasool Bhat from Chek Cholan in Shopian, Danish Aijaz Sheikh from Elahaibagh in Srinagar, and Saifullah from an unknown location. Other militants identified include LeT Commanders Basit Dar and Umar Khan, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, and Rayees Ahmad, all from Kakapora Pulwama, Yawer Bashir of Redwani Bala, Qaimoh, Zahid Ahmad Dar of Dassend Yaripora, Tawheed Ahmad Rather of Oudurs Kulgam, and Shakeel Ahmad Wani from Batpora Khuri Batpora, Kulgam.

The list of slain local militants also includes Adil Hussain Wani from Kutipore in Shopian, Faisal Bashir Lone from Kanipora, Shopian, Aquib Ahmad Shergojri of Chadoora Budgam, and Umais Wani of Chawalgam, Kulgam. Other local militants, such as Let commander Junaid Bhat from Qaimoh Kulgam, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Itoo from Muhammadpur, and Adil Hussain from Khandipora, were also killed in encounters throughout the year. Yasir Javid from Kulgam and Muhammad Irfan from Hawoorah Kulgam were among the others killed.

In addition to the local militants, 27 foreign militants were killed in various military operations. These operations were often carried out in difficult terrain.

Furthermore, the army killed 18 infiltrators in multiple gunfights along the Line of Control (LoC). These incidents primarily took place in the Sabura Nalla area of Uri Sector, Keran Sector, Kowat Lolab, Kamkari Sector in Kupwara, and the Nowshera Sector in Rajouri. [KNT]
