The Kashmir Valley, Jammu region, and Ladakh experienced bone-chilling cold as temperatures dipped across the region.

Drass in Ladakh recorded the lowest temperature at a freezing -24.9°C, followed by Kargil at -15.6°C and Leh at -13.2°C.

In the Kashmir Valley, Larnoo emerged as the coldest location with a low of -11.3°C, while Pahalgam registered -10.0°C. Other popular destinations like Gulmarg and Sonamarg recorded -8.1°C and -7.6°C, respectively. Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded a low of -4.3°C.

In the Jammu region, relatively milder weather prevailed, with Jammu city and Banihal recording a minimum of 4.9°C each. However, higher altitudes like Padder dropped to -5.0°C.

The severe drop in temperatures has left water bodies partially frozen in some areas, with frost-covered mornings becoming a common sight. Residents are bracing for further cold spells as the harsh winter period intensifies.
