Srinagar: CM Omar Abdullah has announced an increase in marriage assistance for girls under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category, raising it from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. The move aims to support underprivileged families.
Other budget measures include free travel for women in government transport, free electricity for AAY families, water testing labs, and the establishment of a National Law University.
On Friday, Omar presented the first budget of Jammu and Kashmir in six years and said it is a roadmap for economic growth and a true reflection of people’s aspirations.
Earlier, the Legislative Assembly secretariat announced that there will be general discussions on the budget on March 8, 10, and 11. The Finance Minister, who is also the Chief Minister, will conclude discussion on the budget on March 11 with his reply.
