Mirwaiz reviews arrangements, urges authorities to allow unhindered congregation
Srinagar: The Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has announced that the Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayers will be held at the historic Eidgah Srinagar at 10am, following Islamic tradition.
The Eid sermon (Khutba Eid) will be delivered by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq at 9am, and worshippers have been urged to arrive early to benefit from the sermon and participate in the prayers.
The Anjuman expressed hope that authorities will not impose any restrictions or create hurdles for the gathering, emphasising that the smooth conduct of Eid prayers should be ensured. The organisation strongly opposed any potential disruption, recalling the restrictions imposed on Shab-e-Qadr and Jumat-ul-Vida, which had sparked widespread resentment.
Ahead of the prayers, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq personally visited Eidgah Srinagar to inspect the arrangements and expressed satisfaction with the preparations. He noted that the prevailing dry weather conditions would allow for a smooth congregation.
The Anjuman Auqaf has also urged the JK Waqf Board to facilitate all necessary arrangements and called upon the public to attend in large numbers while maintaining discipline and decorum.
Worshippers have been advised to bring their own prayer mats. In case of adverse weather, the prayers will be held at Jamia Masjid Srinagar instead.
