Budgam: A poor family in Borwah village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district was evicted from their ancestral land during an anti-encroachment drive, despite having lived there for over a century, PDP spokesperson Mohit Bhan said on Tuesday.
Bhan said the Peoples Democratic Party had introduced a bill in the Assembly to protect such families, but it was blocked by the National Conference.
He pointed out that the incident took place in NC leader Aga Ruhullah Mehdi’s home district, where an NC MLA currently represents the area. He has also shared a video of officials razing the house belonging to an old an and his family.
“The silence is criminal,” Bhan posted on X. “Hypocrisy at its peak.”
The family’s home was demolished as part of the administration’s ongoing eviction drives across Jammu and Kashmir.
